RevoPower turns bike into 200 MPG mopedTuesday, May 16, 2006 With summer only a couple weeks around the corner, we are about to kick off what is sure to be a fantastic new season for hot guy gadgets.
RevoPower, a Denver Colorado company, is claiming it has re-invented the wheel, and with current fuel prices as high as they are, the Revo Power Wheel's mileage of a cool 200 miles per gallon (MPG) may just be a welcome transportation alternative for many commuters. The RevoPower wheel is easily installed on any adult mountain bike, hybrid, or cruiser that has 26 inch (or 700cm metric) wheels. You simply remove your front wheel, replace it with the RevoPower wheel, a little bit of simple wiring for the starter and throttle, and you are ready to go! Your bicycle still functions exactly as it did before, but with one very cool added new feature - when you get tired, or simply want to take a break from pedalling, you press a button, and the RevoPower wheel's 23cc two-stroke engine kicks in, allowing you to cruise at speeds of up to 20 miles (36 kilometres) per hour on flat surfaces, all while delivering an amazing 200 miles to the gallon! The RevoPower wheel has a capacity to hold 3.8 litres of mixed oil and fuel mixture - almost a full US gallon - and adds a total of 12 pounds additional weight to the bicycle. Noise emissions are less than 65dB, which is just a little more than half of the noise of the average lawnmower. RevoPower is predicting an early 2007 first delivery of their wheel, and is expected to retail for $399.00. Advanced orders with a $50 deposit are being taken on the RevoPower website. Some municipalities will consider your motor-assisted bicycle to be a moped, and will require you to license and insure it, so you should check with your local driver's licensing office before purchasing your RevoPower wheel.
As an avid cyclist myself, I often find myself not realizing how far from home I've gone until I start getting tired, or nightfall approaches, so I am most certainly going to look into the RevoPower wheel, as well as just being into Hot Guy Gadgets. Im sure my Revo-powered bike will be the talk of my small town!
