Samsung to unveil the Q1 Ultra UMPC

This Thursday at CeBIT 2007 Samsung will introduce the new Q1 Ultra UMPC. The launch of the second generation UMPC will coincide with the first anniversary of the launch of the UMPC (Ultra-Mobile PC) platform. The new Q1 Ultra UMPC is an important step for this platform that is really gaining space in markets where a desktop PC or a notebook is not an option.

Compared to the first UMPC release the Q1 Ultra UMPC will double the power and capacity available to the user. The Q1 Ultra UMPC sports a 1.0 GHz Intel Pentium processor, 1GB of memory and a huge hard disk that can store up to 60GB of content.

The Q1 Ultra UMPC is also the first model of its kind to qualify for a Windows Vista certification. To better enjoy the UMPC experience, Samsung included in the Q1 Ultra UMPC a 7-inch wide LCD that comes with a 1280x600 resolution. The display is a touch-screen so data can be inputted simply by touching the LCD. For more traditional text input there is also a QWERTY thumb pad.

Other features of the Q1 Ultra UMPC are a webcam on the front, a 1.3 megapixel camera on the back and support for Bluetooth, HSDPA and Wi-Fi. Another connectivity technology supported by the Samsung Q1 Ultra UMPC is WiBro. The new Samsung device also has an improved battery that can offer up to two and half hours of continuous use. Lastly for security purposes the Samsung Q1 Ultra UMPC also has a fingerprint scanner.
