Germ Free Wireless Laser Mouse to defeat bacteria

One of the most obvious computer related hardware where germs can “take refuge” is the keyboard so we (hopefully) clean it very often. The same cannot be said for the mouse (the computer’s one) because it tends to be overlooked since it is not directly under our eye.

According to research instead we should clean often both the mouse and the keyboard because they reside on an environment pretty crowded of bacteria and viruses: the desk. A University of Arizona research in fact reports that the average desk contains 400 times more bacteria than the average…toilet seat.

So a routine of cleaning regularly the two devices must be installed but especially in public spaces it can become hell. For this reason IOGEAR had a great idea when they released the Germ Free Wireless Laser Mouse.

It is a wireless mouse that has a special coating that, deactivating enzymes and proteins, protects the user from viruses and bacteria. This is achieved by using a compound that is made using Nano Technologies.

As for the more technical details on the Germ Free Wireless Laser Mouse it is the VCSEL technology that allows it to have more tracking power than its peers. This technology besides also improves the adaptability of the mouse to different surfaces so it can be used even on glass.

The mouse is also simple to use. Just plug the USB receiver in the computer and start to use Germ Free Wireless Laser Mouse (it can be up to two meters away from the receiver). The device uses two AAA batteries and to save power IOGEAR also included an off/on switch on the mouse.

Lastly the mouse, priced at $39.95, works on Windows (at least Windows 2000 or XP is required) and Mac OS X (at least 10.2 or later). It can be used also on Mac OS 9.x or earlier but works only as a one mouse button.
